OoC: Daylight Savings Stream Soon!!

rainbowdashreplies:

My sleep schedule is fucked up because of my fever, so I’m gonna try and pull an all-nighter to help fix my sleep schedule in time for college. At some point in the next hour I’ll start. I’ll alternate between drawing Ask Diane Pie things and doing requests, so if you like both of those I hope you’re nocturnal and/or foreign!

rainbowdashreplies:

…but this time I actually have A TWEEST.

Due to now being on spring break from college, I am totes gonna put out actual content. Mainly that $30 commish I keep being vague about, but I think I’ll also do some blog updates. I miss drawing ponies, even though I know I should be focusing on other…

OoC: Okay I totally suck.

rainbowdashreplies:

Rant below the break, mostly about the future of my blogs but also just some general plans.

OoC: Attention, some dude who gave me $30 for a commission!

rainbowdashreplies:

I’ll try to get it done today, I’ve just been busy with non-pone commissions.

I wish I remembered to write down your name, though at least I remember your commission.

To everyone else… maybe I’ll update tomorrow? I’m planning a retool for this blog.

…then I need to update Celestia Replies.

And actually start that Diane Pie relaunch.

I’m busyyyyyyy

OoC: Maybe update, but no Livestream.

My desktop’s wireless adapter is being broken, so I won’t Livestream, but I might do an update anyway. Not sure if I want to drag out the bedmane stuff (starts here) any more or not, because I am sorta building up to something, but do you guys even like the whole bedmane saga?

I hate that, is please, if you’re going to make an art blog with a brand new character, please do it well. Don’t make the character crappy all because YOU don’t know how to character is.

I know I don’t normally reblog stuff, but since this is so grammatically broken but so essentially accurate, and some people didn’t understand it, I decided to… elaborate, I guess.
What this confession means is that it refers to when someone sees a new character, they will sometimes make an askblog right away for that character, regardless of how much they actually understand the character. Like, if someone started a Babs Seed Tumblr and made her 100% douche with no motivation or reason, because the episode wasn’t out yet and they were just going on promotional clips. Maybe they’ve seen the full intro episode for that character, but they make the blog anyway, without taking the time to wonder if they actually understand the characterization and if they’d be able to write that well.
Or maybe they just make the character ghettofab. (though that’s more forgivable because it’s clearly just a joke and a hilarious one at that, like comment subscribe)
The confession claims that the main motivation for doing this is just so they can be the first blog for that character out there and many people will follow them more out of novelty than out of quality. Which… is probably accurate in some instances, but I don’t think it’s the key motivation. Sometimes it’s just through poor impulse control (like most of my blogs WOOPS), sometimes it’s just because they really like the design or something… maybe some blogs actually DO like the characters themselves and know them to some degree, but they still jump in all feet forward without any foresight.
I remember back when the Flim-Flam Brothers were introduced, someone made an askblog for them. It had a single post, then died. Then it was given another mod, had one or two posts… then died again. I’m not going to put words in their mouths, since I don’t know the why, but this is pretty much what the confession is talking about. Don’t make a blog for a character unless you understand exactly what you plan to do with that character, and that you plan to actually follow through with it. Don’t make an askblog just to be the first dude with that character’s askblog.

At least I’m aging gracefully… one of my guards once referred to this look as “punky”. I think that’s a good thing?
